Overseas students can only study at Australian institutions that are accredited and registered by the Australian government. All courses for overseas students must be full-time registered courses.

Students must demonstrate that they can support themselves financially. You will not be automatically granted permission to work in Australia.  However you may apply for permission to work (with time restrictions) once you begin your studies.

Students can also apply, on completion of their studies in Australia, for an Occupational Trainee Visa to undertake up to 12 months of supervised on-the-job training in their area of expertise. This can lead to registration in your chosen profession in Australia.

Student visas are temporary visas. Once a student has successfully completed an award in Australia there are pathways for eligibility for permanent residence.  (click Student Migration Visa)
